Bringing Volunteers into Action
The San Andres Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a volunteer group that helps improve disaster preparedness and emergency response in the Municipality of San Andres. The team empowers local residents with essential skills to assist during natural and man-made disasters, emergencies, and community crises.
San Andres CERT is composed of trained volunteers from different barangays who respond to situations such as typhoons, earthquakes, fires, and floods. Members are trained in first aid, basic firefighting, search and rescue, evacuation, and disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM). The team also helps conduct drills, raise community awareness, and support relief and recovery efforts.
CERT volunteers serve as the first responders while waiting for professional assistance. They work closely with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), barangay officials, and partner agencies to help keep San Andres safe and resilient.
