ABOUT US
San Andres Community Emergency Response Team
Brief Description
The San Andres Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a volunteer-based group dedicated to enhancing the disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities of the Municipality of San Andres. Formed to empower local residents with essential skills and knowledge, the team plays a vital role in supporting the local government during natural or man-made disasters, emergencies, and community crises.
The San Andres CERT is composed of trained volunteers from various barangays who are equipped to respond to emergencies such as typhoons, earthquakes, fires, floods, and other critical incidents. Members receive training in first aid, basic firefighting, search and rescue, evacuation procedures, and disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM). The team also supports local authorities in organizing drills, raising awareness, and assisting in relief and rehabilitation efforts.
CERT volunteers act as the first line of support while waiting for professional responders to arrive. They work hand-in-hand with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), barangay officials, and other response agencies to ensure a safer and more resilient San Andres.
